Day 1 — June 9
Broome, Australia

Arriving in Broome from a variety of places around the world, we met at the Cable Beach Resort for lunch. Following a stop in the center of Broome for shopping, exploring, and a discourse on the pearl industry, we made our way towards the Oceanic Discoverer, our floating home for the next ten days. As we arrived at Broome wharf late in the afternoon an air of excitement and anticipation grew. She is indeed a beautiful ship and the friendly crew greeted us and showed us to our cabins. A briefing on “who’s who and what’s where” was given by Purser Vicki and Expedition Leader Jeff as we set sail for places north.
