Zegrahm Expeditions Announces New Onboard Digital Workshops

SEATTLE, WA — Over the past several years, advances in digital photography and video technology have added another method for travelers to document their experiences and share them with family and friends. In addition, digital photography has a number of advantages over conventional methods, including no film processing, no sorting through slides, and more avenues of presentation.

Digital cameras and attendant technologies can also pose a number of bewildering choices and questions for new users — how to best use all a camera's functions, how to burn photos to a CD or transfer them to a computer, how to create a Web site, among others.

In recognition of this emerging technology, Zegrahm Expeditions has instituted a series of innovative Onboard Digital Photo and Video Workshops. Now, while traveling to the world's most intriguing places, Zegrahm passengers can learn how to capture quality digital images of their voyages and use these images in a creative and meaningful way.

Through expert-led lectures and hands-on seminars, passengers will learn how to:

• Choose the best digital camera and transfer photos to computers
• Manipulate photos and build a file system
• Improve their photos — including cropping, enhancing, and color-correcting the images
• Capture stills from video cameras and transfer video to computers
• Edit footage and integrate it into multimedia shows
• Create a slide show with photos, music, and text
• Build a Web site and send photos via e-mail

By the end of their voyage, travelers will be well versed in the myriad of digital cameras and their functions. Upcoming 2003 expeditions featuring the Onboard Digital Photo and Video Workshops are Fire & Ice: Kuril Islands, Kamchatka, & Bering Island; Beyond Rapa Nui: Tahiti, Tuamotus, & Marquesas; Beyond Rapa Nui: Tahiti, Australs, Pitcairns, & Easter Island; Rain Forests & Reefs: Belize to Costa Rica; and Realm of the Macaw: Costa Rica through the Panama Canal.
