Clipper Odyssey: Ship of Dreams
With our recent long-term charter of the Clipper Odyssey, and the creation of many unique Pacific itineraries—from the Arctic to the far western tropical reaches and southernmost islands—we’ve reserved this page for the next few issues to offer updates and news about the ship and our journeys. Our 2008 voyages aboard the Clipper Odyssey are included in the Calendar on the back page or our January Newsletter.

National Geographic Adventure Honors Zegrahm and Clipper Odyssey Voyage
In the October issue of National Geographic Adventure, Zegrahm’s Best of Melanesia & Micronesia voyage was included in the “World’s 25 Best New Trips” 2008 list. In their introduction, the editors say this list is “... an essential guide to the most spectacular trips on the globe for 2008. All 25 adventures are innovative, exploratory, action-filled, and guaranteed to change your life.” Read an excerpt from the article below.

“The Oceania Full Monty” from National Geographic Adventure
The macro display of attractions in Micronesia and Melanesia has baffled outfitters and tourists trying to see it all. Until Now. Zegrahm Expedition’s exclusive new itinerary hits the water world’s full range of options in the Western South Pacific. Traveling from Papua New Guinea, the Clipper Odyssey—a 110-passenger ship ideal for small-scale exploration—sails the rugged tropical coastlines of Palau and the Yap Islands... “Yap’s traditional villages are reached only by the sea and remain nearly untouched by tourism,” says Casey Marker, marketing director for Zegrahm & Eco Expeditions... Five years ago the outfitter made the first ever visit by an international passenger vessel to the Tsoi Islands; next year islanders welcome guests back with performances by the village choir... The Clipper Odyssey’s final ports of call include Koror... [where visitors can] snorkel in Jellyfish Lake...

Featured Voyages:
FIRE & ICE 2008 Aboard the Clipper Odyssey
Two remarkable voyages (which can be combined) to the northeastern Pacific and its remote island world. Voyages intersect in Petropavlovsk with an optional visit to the Valley of the Geysers.

Voyage I: Japan to Kamchatka
07 – 21 June 2008
Travel from Sapporo, Japan to the Russian island of Sakhalin where sea lions and pups cover the beaches. Our exploration of the Kuril Islands—with their steaming volcanoes, wildflower tundra meadows, and millions of seabirds—is a highlight.

Voyage II: Kamchatka to Alaska
19 June – 03 July 2008
Cruise northward along the Kamchatka Peninsula into the Bering Sea. Zodiac exploration showcases the steaming volcanic terrain. We visit isolated villages, welcomed by reindeer herders and indigenous Aleut and Chukchi residents; walk through “Whalebone Alley;” and look for bears, walrus, and whales.

Welcome Aboard Tim Palucki
Tim joins Zegrahm Expeditions as manager of onboard services. With our long-term charter of the Clipper Odyssey, we hired Tim to act as liaison between key people in our Seattle office, the onboard crew, and the ship owners to ensure that our high quality standards of ship travel are maintained. His varied shipboard experience began as a deckhand and evolved to purser, and introduced him to the world from Antarctica to the South Pacific, and to the world of the Clipper Odyssey. Tim grew up in Baltimore, studied to become a paramedic, volunteered as a firefighter, and worked in the Florida Keys for a four-diamond resort. Tim will spend half the year in the office and half aboard the Clipper Odyssey and our other ships.
