Delve into the cultural extravaganza that combines Spain, Algeria, Tunisia, Sicily, and Greece on this Mediterranean adventure travel expedition. Aboard the casually elegant, 110-passenger Clipper Odyssey, we visit Byzantine churches in Tunisia, traverse the Corinthian Canal on our way to Athens, and explore Algeria’s notable Roman sites, undoubtedly the centerpiece of our tour. In fact, no fewer than 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites are included in our Mediterranean expedition. Our team of expert leaders and lecturers will bring to life the legends and lore of this storied land. 

Mediterranean Expedition Highlights:

• Exploration of the Alhambra, the most celebrated example of Moorish architecture and one of the ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites on our Mediterranean tour.
• Roman ruins of Tipasa, Algeria—villas, theater, fountains, baths, and museum—this village once boasted 20,000 inhabitants.
• Tunisia’s Carthage, Mount Byrsa, Hadrian’s theater, thermal baths, plus the World Heritage town of Dougga
• Valley of the Temples in Sicily, including the Temples of Juno, Concord, and Hercules, and the Temple of Zeus, the largest Doric temple of Greek antiquity.
• Athens, with a tour of the city’s highlights, including the Acropolis, the final World Heritage Site on our Mediterranean Sea expedition.

What to Expect:

Your Mediterranean adventure travel tour requires a relatively moderate level of exertion; many of our walking tours will be through archaeological sites with uneven paths. You must be able to walk, unaided, for one to three miles, navigate possibly uneven stairs, and stand for long periods of time. While visiting Muslim countries as part of this Mediterranean tour, women will be expected to wear long sleeves and long pants or skirts; when visiting mosques, you may be required to remove your shoes. You can expect temperatures from the mid-70s to mid-80s°F.
