Norway Travel Norwegian Coastal Voyage Scandinavian Cruise Arctic Wildlife Habitat Longyearbyen Svalbard Polar Bears Spitsbergen Alesund fjord cruise

Our adventure travel cruise during the magical light of Arctic summer shines on Norway’s exquisitely scenic coastline and the arctic wildlife habitats of Spitsbergen. From Bergen, travel into magnificent fjords and step ashore in timeless fishing villages. Fjord cruising reveals brightly painted towns and vertical cliffs while millions of seabirds—kittiwakes, cormorants, fulmars, and puffins—call this natural paradise home. After crossing the Arctic Circle, weave among countless islands and inlets by Zodiac, view Spitsbergen’s pristine land– and icescapes as we search, along with our expert naturalists, for polar bears, walrus, seals, and whales in this remote and fascinating land.

Reports From The Field

Spitsbergen & The White Sea

Spitsbergen & The White Sea
For many the first item of the day was an announcement that a polar bear had been sighted standing on an ice floe dead ahead of the ship. This first bear was quickly followed by a second, this time on land. After a speedy embarkation into the Zodiacs, we approached very quietly and slowly, securing some excellent observations of the bear consuming a bearded seal that it had killed.
